Japanese blog, Applele, covering all things Apple has a nice collection of design mockups of future Apple products. What initially caught my eye were these renderings of an iPod mini that follows the design of the current Power Mac G5 very well.
This also brings to mind, an article in
Business 2.0 a few months back. The
editors commissioned the esteemed design firm, Pentagram, to mock up a
few Apple products they would like to
see in the future. While they weren't bad, it lacked a certain connection to Apple's current generation of products. I
suppose this could be attributed to their lead designer Robert Brunner, who was Apple's chief designer from 1989-1996.
It's been a few years since he's been gone. Or perhaps they were just looking far into the future.
While the designs from Pentagram didn't really grab my attention, I'm still fixated on the iPod mini mockup from
Applele. This coming from someone who has never owned an Apple product (and I call myself a designer?).
