Well will you look at that, Mayor Bloomberg has declared the week of July 18th to be "Type Week" in my hometown. It wasn't done out of the blue though as the TypeCon 2005 conference, held jointly by the Society of Typographic Aficionados and the Type Directors Club, will be taking place at Parsons School of Design.
Five days of panels, discussions, workshops and more on everything type related; from publications, graffiti, tattoo lettering, and calligraphy to name a few. However there doesn't seem to be anything else listed for Type Week aside from the conference, let's hope they get some more events together outside of the conference to round out the week.
