John Updike's lengthy article in the New Yorker takes us through a concise history of the paperback, more notably, its cover. Walking us through the ages of handcrafted covers to their digital counterparts, Updike touches on the various periods and their most famous craftsman. Mentioned in the article are famous veterans, Paul Rand, Milton Glaser and Chip Kidd among others. It's an interesting article where he gives a short critique on covers through time and worthy of a read but the last line is a bit disappointing.

1. What was wrong with that last line?
