Originally, I intended on waiting until I received my Eames Lounge Chair: An Icon of Modern Design book and had visited the accompanying show in midtown before I grouped this old video together in a post. But recently I stumbled upon someone else posting about it and it's related Simpson's parody / tribute so I guess I'll be sharing this with you all prematurely.I recall watching this terrific short back in 7th grade (or was it 8th?), the Powers of Ten which took us on a journey to the outermost regions of our universe and to the tiny atoms that make up our body. You can catch it on YouTube, and for the Simpson's version click here (also on YouTube). If I still had my 7th grade science teacher's contact information I would love to send this over... woah, I just found his email address!
Anyway, little did I know, that this short was created by the legendary Charles and Ray Eames, designer of the infamous Eames Lounge Chair, an object of desire I'll purchase when I make my first million. Maybe they did mention it, but I think all science teachers employing this video should devote a portion of the lesson to the Eames and their designs.
Not to be disrespectful, but has anyone thought of creating a contemporary Hollywood version of this? You know, updated graphics, HD and the like? Not for my benefit of course, more so to appeal to the kids out there with attention spans shorter than 9 minutes.

1. Someone did update it--The Simpsons! YouTube video
